In Ella's own words

I should really write a book of the silly and comical things that come out of Ella's mouth on a daily basis ... some of my past favorites are "I love you so much I want to eat your face off" and "I am not going to be vegetarian when I grow up ... I am going to be a teacher" ... well, as we near Thanksgiving Ella decided she wanted this stuffed turkey at Build a Bear Workshop ... it was a turkey, it gobbled, and most importantly her beloved 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Schoner had one just like it. So, while we just happened to be at Hamilton Place Mall on Sunday we walked past the store and low and behold there was the turkey. Being that Jerry and I are acustomed to being pushovers when Jewel and Ella are acting all sweetlike, we caved. Hence the stuffed turkey that is now occupying every minute of my 6-year-olds life.

"Tom Turkey" is our constant compain along with Honey Bunny ... Jewel's new side kick ... they have to accompany me to work ... sitting in the front seat with the belt buckle securing placed across their stuffed shoulder, they MUST join us for swim practice where they keep me company in the bleachers for an hour and a half, three nights a week.

And as our relationship with Tom Turkey has grown, so has our sensitivity to Thanksgiving and the annual Turkey feast. It just happens that the word "turkey" is on Ella's spelling word list this week. Last evening, as we were in route to the pool and calling out spelling words, I came across the word Turkey when all of a sudden I heard this streak from behind "Mommy ... don't say the word 'roasted' around Tom Turkey ... he may get frightened."

I don't know who was laughing harder, me or Jerry, but she was so dead serious that it was hysterical. So, needless to say, we'll probably be having Ham for Thanksgiving Dinner this year.

Got to love the things that come out the mouth of a six year old!
